Ganishpuri the abode of Nityananda
Nityananda was truly a supreme cultivator of life in the Tansa well [chora], it was around 19?? that he came and infused this place with his divine dynamic.
This area already had a rich history of great spiritual personalities their drama and undertakings. It says in the paranas that Rama and Sita on their journey to the jungle passed thru here and that the sons of king Pandu, the Pandavas were here and built many of the ancient Shiva temples and central to this is the mountain Mandagni and the river Tansa, that the great sage Vashishta preformed yagna’s and inviting great beings and gods, creating for them these holy hot springs all along the Tansa chora for them to bath in. Nityananda refered to the hot springs as Koti-teertha [cores of holiness]
The village Ganeshpuri is the final resting place of Baba Nityananda, it is a wonderful, magical area that was transformed and named by Nityananda in the year 19??. In 1961 Baba Nityananda took samadhi, Ganeshpuri is not just the place of Nityanandas samadhi mander but the place of many samadhi manders belonging to his disciples.
Unlike many pilgrimage sites in India, Ganeshpuri is amazingly slow, peaceful and accessible, there are no waiting lines, forceful police or people pushing and shoving.
